If your property is suffering from poor cavity wall insulation, there are a few indicators that you may already be aware of, but not necessarily realise that the insulation in your walls is the cause.
The indicators can manifest in a number of ways, but the most common forms are penetrating damp (water ingress from the outside in) and condensing damp (water vapour condensing on cold spots internally). If the cavity wall insulation has not been fitted to the right density it can become wet and this may eventually cause damp internally. Additionally, condensation can sometimes develop on internal walls because the cavity wall insulation has voids and cold spots occur. These areas attract warm air which then condenses on the colder surface and can encourage mould growth.
